InstantiateThis is a human originally from (North) New Jersey, USA. Their government name is Teresa and they also answer to Stan and mostly go by that or InstaniateThis in internet spaces. For official keyboards council proceedings they should be referred to as the Right Honorable InstantiateThis, Holder of the Geese. A (mostly these days) podcaster they enjoy referred to their username as Object Oriented Provocation once and it made them happy so OOP is cool with them too.
In day to day life, the most important thing to InstantiateThis is the welfare of animals. Currently, they have three permanent cats: Annushka, Katherine, and Nissa.
Annushka is the eldest and she is a fairly chill torbie with a very
mighty purr.
Katherine is a sassy tuxedo cat that is in charge of everything that requires some time in a cardboard box every day.

Nissa is a calico tabby (aka caliby aka tabico) pandemic baby who will not hesitate to meow at you if she needs attention who is also very good at playing fetch.

Currently, Teresa also fosters for Forgotten Cats, a rescue that focuses on neuter, vaccinate, return (TNVR) as a means to prevent further suffering in the many feral cats. During that mission cats that are very young or have other obvious medical issues are cared for by a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers who then try to place friendly cats in homes. Cats that need medical care that would not be happy with people are either returned to their feral colonies or alternatively join the barn cat program once they are stabilized. Prior to working with Forgotten Cats, Stan has been fostering or volunteering to care for animals for many years and has additionally fostered guinea pigs, hamsters, and gerbils. When they were a youth they rode horses (English) and competed at the collegiate level. Teresa never has cared about most kinds of competitions including equestrian shows though, and mostly enjoyed working with horses that had trust issues or were healing from injuries. Growing up, they had a fish, rabbits, a guinea pig, and a dog as pets. All of them were wonderful. In general, anyone who doesn’t love at least some kind animal is probably someone who shouldn’t be trusted in their estimation.
Stan is an academic librarian for a jobby job and they would mostly really like it if capitalism wasn’t continuously eroding the ability to focus on actually helping their community meet their information needs. Professionally, they have gotten criticism for not having a clear research focus, but they think a strength of librarianship is that it is able to intersect with many different aspects of human creation. Some of the areas they like to think about and work on the most between meetings are comics (with an emphasis on non-fiction and manga), accessibility, and queer studies. They previously were somewhat known for research and service related to games, but it is somewhat back burnered due to their campus not having much in gaming related curricular and the area not having many other opportunities for community connections related to gaming. Since 2017, their service to the field has largely been in the form of book award juries and they have served multiple years on Stonewall Book Awards. Currently, they manage a library for a small undergraduate campus of a state university.
